Luxurious Lo Fi Records was founded by Samuel Ferris Harmon around 2005.
Samuel is the only redhead in his family. He grew up in Oregon, where he was home-schooled and fed a macrobiotic diet.
He spent a lot of time climbing trees and juggling apples.
At a young age Samuel played trombone and did musical theater.
When he was a young adult he worked at a movie theater and also managed concerts at a local volunteer run community center.
Around 2005 Samuel Ferris Harmon began sharing the music that he had been recording on the website Myspace. A little while later, he recorded an album called Lo Fi Anxiety, in his apartment using nothing but a web microphone, his PC and his guitar. He uploaded it to the website Bandcamp.
Around the same time, he also recorded & released a mixtape titled P.O.P. (Putting Off Procrastination).
Since then, Samuel has released many musical projects under his own name and the stage name Blazer Smith, performing at local venues like the Historic W.O.W. Hall, Blair Alley Vintage Arcade, and Luckey’s Cigar Club in Eugene Oregon.
His creativity and passion extends beyond music—his YouTube channel features short films and a Bob Dylan cover that garnered significant attention, even earning him personal permission from Dylan to perform the song.
Though music remains his primary medium, Samuel’s artistic curiosity has led him to explore diverse formats. In 2010, weary of traditional guitar-driven music, he shifted toward experimental synth under the Blazer Smith moniker, releasing a ten-album series titled Radio Experiment.
The project caught the interest of the website Buddyhead.com, which received one of the few physical copies ever made.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, unable to attend the local open mics he once blogged about (and even recorded a live album at), Samuel channeled his lockdown frustration into new music. He revived the Blazer Smith stage name with the instrumental album I Like Pop Music & I Hurt and has continued releasing music under the name.
Today, you can find him performing most Wednesday nights at Mulligan’s Open Mic in Eugene, Oregon. Beyond solo work, Samuel played guitar in the punk band Loud Meat and is now part of an untitled three-piece band, blending vocals and guitar.
